1. Make sure that the cadet meets ALL of the requirements listed on the "Membership Requirements" page.
  2. Attend four meetings with parent/guardian
    1. This is to ensure that you have a good sense of what meetings are about. We don't want you to spend the money and time on CAP if you don't have a fairly good idea of what it is that we do
    2. We also want your parent/guardian to know what it is that you'll be doing at meetings so that they are more comfortable and knowledgeable about meetings
  3. Complete your application and bring it to the next meeting
    1. Download, print and fill out the application in the "Recruiter's Office", "Cadet Application" area and bring it to the next meeting.
      1. Charter number is "TX214"
      2. There should be NO blanks on the application except for the DCFC's signature and the "prior service" section
      3. A doctor's signature is required only if you answered "yes" to any of the medical questions
  4. Once the application is signed, make two copies of it:
    1. Is for your own records and should serve as a backup in case the original is lost in the mail
    2. Give to your son/daughter as proof that the application was completed. It will serve as a temporary I.D.
  5. Mail the application to National Headquarters (address is on the application) along with $42.00 for the cadet's first year of membership

Once the application is mailed, the cadet may attend meetings and participate on a limited basis. If you wish to go ahead and purchase uniform items, you may; however, none of the Civil Air Patrol insignia may be worn until they get their I.D. card in the mail.
