Black Sheep Comoposite Squadron was formed in 1978. Our first squadron commander met "Pappy" Boyington, the commanding officer of the infamous "Black Sheep" squadron in WWII in the first months of our squadron's existence and acquired a letter from "Pappy" in which he stated that our squadron would be the only one that he would endorse to use the name "Black Sheep".
Since our squadron's foundation, Black Sheep has proudly served CAP, the State of Texas, and local area by participating in Search And Rescues, Disaster Relief and other missions.
Our squadron has earned a reputation for its professionalism and its attention to detail; it has distinguished itself in all three missions in Civil Air Patrol and earned numerous awards.
The Black Sheep Cadet Program prides itself on its respect for history, its
traditions and its leadership training.
